Question: While designing forms, I'm seeing white lines (know as artifacts) left on screen as I select or move different objects. How do I fix this?Answer: This appears to be related to the color depth of your current video driver. Check the Settings tab of your Display Properties and see if you are using 256 color. If so, try increasing that to a higher depth, such as High Color or True Color. Anecdotal evidence suggests that will resolve the problem. This may force you to reduce your screen resolution. If that's not desirable, see if there are updated video drivers available for your video card; these may provide more support. Worse comes to worse, try using 16-bit color. If none of this works, then you may need a newer video card. 3D accelerator cards often provide excellent 2D graphics support and are often much cheaper than the current leaders. For example, at this writing, the (arguably) best cards are based on nVidia's GeForce2 chipset, however, these currently cost ~$300. Cards based on nVidia's older TNT2 chipset can be purchased online for ~$50 (for OEM versions). If you do purchase a new video card, make sure you buy one that fits into your computer. For example, don't buy an AGP card unless your computer's motherboard contains an appropriate slot. |
