Question: When I open a form (or report), Paradox displays an error: "Drive D: Not Ready" What does it mean and how do I fix it?Answer: This is probably appearing on a machine other than the one last used to save the form (which we'll call the development machine). In addition, the error message is reporting the drive letter associated with the CD-ROM drive or a removable disk, such as a Zip drive. The drive currently doesn't contain a data disk. In addition, the development machine probably has Paradox installed on a drive using the same drive letter as the one reported in the error message. If these things are true, then you're seeing the style sheet problem in action. Your file has been saved with a style sheet reference to a directory on the same drive as your CD-ROM or removable disk. (Typically, this is drive D:.) Paradox sees this when opening the file and then tries to open that style sheet. However, the CD-ROM drive doesn't contain a data disk, so Windows displays the "Drive Not Ready" error. To resolve the problem, change the file's style sheet to one stored on a drive available to the problematic machine, such as drive C:. To prevent the problem from recurring, configure the original machine use style sheets located on a drive available to all machines that will use files created and saved on it. Related Information: |
