Introduction

Here's where we briefly detail what we've been working on recently. Please note that the information is reported in descending order by date. We plan to archive information older than a year.

9 February 2004: We've corrected a couple of typos in our Paradox password form tutorial, based on feedback from a sharp-eyed reader, and expanded our Delphi article showing how to detect Windows NT. We have more articles under construction, which we hope to post shortly.

11 December 2003: Added two Delphi articles. The first describes how to hide default shortcut menus and the second shows how to move pages in a page control.

7 November 2003: Added a Delphi article showing how to determine a form's modality.

16 June 2003: Added a Paradox articles showing how to Pass Values to Reports. Also, we added a new resource to our lists of Paradox Web Sites and Favorite Paradox Sites.

14 June 2003: A new Paradox tutorial has been added: Form Tutorial: Creating a Password form. Enjoy!

11 June 2003: We updated a couple of Paradox articles contain errors caught by sharp-eyed readers. The Error: "Unable to Open Table" (Interbase) article now mentioned variations in the commands offered by RegEdit in different versions of Windows and Setting the Refresh Rate in Runtime now updates the Registry with a String variable as opposed to a SmallInt.

We apologize for these errors and appreciate hearing about them. If you happen to notice similar problems, grammatical clumsiness, or even simple "tpyos," please let us know via the Feedback link displayed on every page.

31 May 2003: We have completed our initial clean-up of the configuration problems required by our host's recent updates. The good news is that all content has been restored. The bad news is that many documents have moved. If you receive a 404 (Document not Found) error when trying to retreive one of our older articles, please see if the filename ends with PHP3. If so, the document now has a .PHP extension. Please update your bookmarks accordingly.

We are in the process of creating a more intelligent error document that will attempt to automatically redirect you in such cases, however, that's not online at the moment. Hopefully, we'll have that available shortly.

28 May 2003: Our host just upgraded our servers and their software. As a result, we're having to rework portions of our site to work with the new capabilities. We expect to have things back to normal in a day or two. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope you'll try again in a day or two.

23 April 2003: Added two articles. One shows a nifty shortcut for quickly changing directories with Windows' Command Prompt and the other shows how to obtain the name of an enumerated type value in Delphi.

14 April 2003: An article showing how to remove CLX topics from Delphi's Help file is now available.

12 April 2003: Two MDAC articles have been added to the Assorted section. One describes how to determine the version currently installed on your computer and the other shows where to obtain the latest updates.

7 April 2003: We've been offline for a few days due to server relocation by our service providers. Unfortunately, this included changes to the DNS servers and some, uh, lengthy negotiations with various registrars regarding updates to the IP addresses. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and will be taking steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

25 March 2003: We added a Delphi tutorial this morning: VCL Tutorial: Creating Buttons with Multi-line Captions. A couple of follow-up articles will appear within the next couple of days.

21 March 2003: We've updated the Paradox:: Buttons Don't Display article to explain an additional cause and added two explanations for errors you can encounter with Paradox (Error: "Insufficient Shared Memory Available" and Error: "Invalid File Access"). We hope to upload additional Paradox articles in a few days.

Also, we've reviewed our error logs and fixed several broken links. If you have trouble accessing documents that are supposed to be on the site (e.g. not formmail.pl, which is not installed in any form so please stop looking for it), please let us know via the Feedback link.

25 February 2003:: Added a Paradox article showing how to trigger ChangeValue() events after lookup.

23 February 2003: Added our first PHP article to the site (PHP Warning Error: "Failed opening...") and made major structural changes to the Paradox Resource page. (Basically, we broke the page into several smaller ones to help you locate--and download--information more quickly.)

11 February 2003: No, the site isn't dead. We've been distracted by other matters that won't be detailed here. (Suffice to say that "life" happens.) We sincerely apologize for allowing these events to interfere with the maintenance of the site and will be more actively maintaining in the future.

In any event, we have been quietly working on things in the background over the past couple of weeks. Here's what's happened lately:

• We've fixed a number of formatting problems in the underlying HTML templates. (Most were caused by the way recent browsers render HTML.)

• Minor formatting goofs in the Paradox and Delphi index pages have been fixed.

• Four new Paradox articles have been added:

1. Trick: Changing Properties for Multiple Objects
2. Dynamically Populating Selection Lists and Combo Boxes
3. Using Lists to Limit Field Values
4. Error: "Unable to Open Table" (Interbase)



• New Delphi articles have been added:

1. Error: "Corrupt Portfolio Stream"
2. Adding Commands to a Form's System Menu
3. Hiding Applications from the Taskbar
