Changes during 2002

Here's what happened during 2002. We've archived it here to reduce the size of the News page and retained it in case any one is curious.

18 June 2002: Continued crash clean-up and review; certain files may be briefly unavailable while we fix problems.

The good news is that it looks like we have backups of all site data destroyed by the server crash; the bad news is that we lost roughly three months of email messages. If you contacted us during that time and have not yet received a response, please resend your message. (Note: Spammers and those using email as a direct marketing technique are kindly invited to ignore that request.)

17 June 2002: Yay! We're back. We've had to rebuild the site from a backup and may have some glitches remaining. We are reviewing every page on the site to locate and fix any remaining problems, which will probably take a little time. If you notice something before we do, please report the problem via our feedback link.

12 June 2002: The server hosting our site has crashed and we're not sure how long it'll take to bring another online. It's looks pretty bad; data has been lost. We're sorry for the inconvenience and are working as hard as we can to bring things back online as quickly as possible.

1 June 2002: It's come to our some folks are receiving unsolicited commercial email (aka "spam") purporting to be from us. These messages are forgeries. If you receive messages from any address on this domain, delete it immediately. For more details, please see Our Take on Spam.

15 May 2002: Due to circumstances beyond our control, updates will slow for an unknown period of time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, however, it's unavoidable. (We hope to be back shortly, however, much depends on factors beyond our control.)

18 April 2002: Fixed the index pages for the Delphi and Paradox sections. We goofed. Sorry.

1 April 2002: Added several articles today, including two Delphi articles (Determining the Last Day of a Month and Determining Oldest or Latest Date Values) and four Paradox articles:

• Handling Maximized Reports
• Prompting for Filenames
• Specifying Custom Filters in FileBrowser
• Trick: Creating Resizeable FileBrowser Dialogs

31 January 2002 - Added a Delphi article showing how to send email.

23 January 2002 - We're restored most of the previous content. For those that missed it, we had a brief outage caused by upgrades on our servers. Please note that a few articles aren't back just yet. These are being rewritten and are indicated as unlinked titles in the respective content areas. These will return as quickly as possible.

22 January 2002 (Late!): We are currently experiencing a temporary interruption of service stemming from a number of hardware and software upgrades performed by our service provider. Due to the scope of these upgrades, we need to review and update all previously posted content.

As a result, much of our previous content is temporarily unavailable and many previous links will not work as intended. We are currently revising our material and will be re-posting it as quickly as possible. You can expect the first installments to appear tomorrow afternoon (23 January 2002).

Please be aware that certain articles will under major surgery. As a result, some may take longer to restore than others. We are working as quickly as we can. Again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

We believe this process will be worthwhile in the long run. We're already planning some new features (and articles) as a result of these efforts. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and hope to have most of the previously posted material back online over the next several days.

08 January 2002 - Added two new Paradox articles today; one shows how to change the default language driver and the other discusses sorting problems. Enjoy! (We're working on others to appear shortly.)

02 January 2002 - Happy New Year! We've added a new Delphi article showing how to print to the selected printer using QuickReports. We've also fixed a number of typos in other articles. We've also got some new Paradox stuff in the works. It should be appearing within the next few days.
